PriceTrail privacy policy
Last updated 27 September 2026
PriceTrail is a Shopify app that checks the prices your customers see in each market and catalog and points out likely mistakes. This policy explains what data PriceTrail handles when a merchant installs it. PriceTrail is operated by the developer of PriceTrail.
What PriceTrail reads from your store
- Store details: shop domain, store name, store currency and time zone.
- Products and variants: titles, SKUs, barcodes, prices and compare-at prices.
- Market and catalog settings: markets, countries, currencies, price lists, price adjustments, fixed prices, rounding, tax and duty display settings.
- The prices Shopify shows to buyers in each market or catalog.
PriceTrail asks Shopify only for read access to products and markets. It never changes prices, products or settings in your store.
What PriceTrail does not collect
PriceTrail does not read or store customer data: no customer names, emails, addresses, orders or payment details. The mandatory Shopify customer data requests therefore have no customer data to return or erase.
Your staff and settings
When your staff change settings or mark an issue as intended, PriceTrail stores an internal Shopify staff ID with the change, for your audit log. If you turn on email alerts, PriceTrail stores the recipient email addresses you enter and uses them only to send PriceTrail alerts.
How data is used
Only to run the price checks, show results in the app and send the alerts you switch on. PriceTrail does not sell, rent or share your data, and does not use it for advertising or to train AI models.
Where it is stored and how it is protected
- Hosted on Amazon Web Services (United States) with a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon) in the same region.
- All connections use HTTPS/TLS. Shopify access tokens are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM).
- Each store's data is isolated at the database level (row-level security).
- Service providers: Amazon Web Services (hosting, email), Neon (database). They process data only to provide those services.
How long data is kept
- Price history: 35 days. Current prices, settings and issues: while the app is installed.
- When you uninstall PriceTrail, checks stop immediately. Shopify then sends a shop-deletion request and PriceTrail deletes all of your store's data within 48 hours.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your store's data or for its deletion at any time, and uninstalling the app deletes it automatically. Residents of the EEA, UK and California have rights of access, correction and deletion under GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA; PriceTrail honours them for every merchant.
